Yes

As long as they keep their sexual preferences secret, there are no problems. If they expose them, however, problems arise with other soldiers. They often share very close quarters and may make other soldiers uncomfortable.

Either being gay and being in the military is okay, or it is not. It can't be okay only if they do not know.
