- Senator John Kerry quotes (American Senator, b.1943) - "Too many people in America believe that if you are pro-choice that means pro-abortion. It doesn't. I don't want abortion. Abortion should be the rarest thing in the world. I am actually personally opposed to abortion. But I don't believe that I have a right to take what is an article of faith to me and legislate it to other people. That's not how it works in America."
- Sarah Weddington, the lawyer who argued Roe v. Wade, (April 23, 2002). - "People make up their own minds about abortion."
- Opponents of abortion may have a strong moral case and belief against abortion. Yet, their beliefs are not shared by all. They must tolerate a woman's right to have an abortion, even if they believe the act to be morally wrong. The best that opponents can hope for is to convince women that it is immoral, but to ask for the illegalization of abortion would be to wrongly deny that abortion is a right.
- This sentence is not complete. It does not say why we must tolerate the choice. We don't have to tolerate crimes. The question is if it should be a crime.
