Debate: Foreign ownership of US ports
From Debatepedia
[Edit] Is the foreign ownership of US ports acceptable and not a security risk? |
[Edit] Background and contextThe DP World controversy began in February 2006 and rose to prominence as a national security debate in the United States. At issue was the sale of port management businesses in six major U.S. seaports to a company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and whether such a sale would compromise port security. This has extended to a larger debate surrounding whether foreign companies should be allowed to own US ports, and whether any foreign companies should be able to own the ports of any other country around the world. |
