Debate: Civil disobedience is justified to protest UC fee hikes
From Debatepedia
[Edit] Background and contextDuring the 2009 economic crisis, and California's state budget crisis, the University of California school system decided to raise their fees significantly, largely as a means of compensating for cuts in their budgets. As a result, many students, parents, and citizens began protesting the action because the new fees made attending a UC school less affordable, or because they felt it undermined the mission of the schools to provide a nearly free public education. |
