Can music be counted as a subject and pastime?

Background and context

Many people like music. They enjoy practising it whenever they have the time. They like music periods at school. Music has a long and rich history. Famous musicians are remembered as talented people.

However, after many years of "boring" music (to some people), they think that learning music in school is a waste of time that takes up at least 1 hour. Even if people want to practise at home, they may be criticised from "making noise". They are also pictured as people who waste time because they are too free.

On the other hand, musicians are very angry with this rumour. They have decided to settle it in a formal way: a debate. Right now, the controversy is still going strong. Thus, we bring it here on debatepedia. Put in your opinions, and be the judges for this topic!
