Future prospects: Can technology improve students' abilities?

Pro

  • A multi-tooled environment stimulates different learning channels (auditory, visual, etc.) and facilitates different learning styles (see section on learning theory for more information). It is easy to display and combine text, graphics, sound, video, and animation. It is easy to update and customize text and graphics. Materials can be available for use by students outside the classroom around the clock. for more information go to this link.[1]
  • Technology is essential for modern businesses. Schools with technology will be helping, and preparing their kids with skills they will need in their jobs. The kids will need to know how to use computers and smart phones as they get older. Now a days the people in businesses know how to use all these new technologies.
  • Possible harms can be minimized. All of this would work out fine as long as you set rules or guide lines so that the kids do not use new technology inappropriately.

Con

  • Technology requires time to master. Hardware, software and infrastructure requirements may be steep. Technology and software require time and effort to master. This can be an impediment for instructors designing a course, and for students, who may need to spend time mastering the technology or software in addition to the course materials. Follow this link, for more information.[2]
  • Technology at high school doesn't prepare you for the real world. You will be using technology everyday in your job later in life.
