The Gazette. 30 Apr. 2008] - The Fraser Institute hypes the idea that, with a flat tax, individuals could file their returns on a postcard. Actually, even under the existing tax system, a postcard-size return could be created for most individuals - those who can't use any of those loopholes.

In fact, it would be possible to make the tax filing process simpler still - eliminating tax returns altogether for most people - without reducing the number of rates. Since the government already collects most of the information needed from employers, banks and other sources, it could prepare returns and send them to individuals for review.
